Eligibility Criteria

Education:

Candidates must be 3-year full-time graduates from BCA, B.Sc (IT, Computer Science, Maths, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Cybersecurity, Biochemistry), or B.Voc (CS/IT) from the batch of 2025 and 2026. Only full-time courses are considered, while part-time or correspondence courses are not eligible. However, candidates who completed Secondary and/or Senior Secondary courses from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) are eligible if other courses are full-time.

Backlogs Policy

For Batch 2025 candidates, no active backlogs are permitted at the time of appearing for the TCS selection process. For Batch 2026 candidates, up to one active backlog at the time of appearing for the TCS selection process is permitted. However, it is mandatory that the course is completed within the stipulated time duration without any backlogs at the time of joining TCS.

Age Limit

Minimum age requirement is 18 years and maximum age is 28 years.

Education Gap

The overall academic gap should not exceed 24 months until the highest qualification. Candidates must declare gaps in education, if any, in the TCS Application Form with relevant document proof. Extended education is not considered eligible.

Experience:

This is an entry-level requirement, but any prior work experience must be mandatorily declared in the TCS Application Form. Supporting documents for experience must be submitted during the TCS selection process.

TCS BSc Ignite Program

TCS Ignite is an immersive ‘Science to Software’ training program that bridges academic knowledge with industry-relevant IT skills. Ignite professionals engage in developing cutting-edge solutions using advanced technologies like Cloud Computing, Blockchain, AR/VR/XR, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Robotics, and Digital Engineering. They enjoy career opportunities, work quality, and growth potential aligned with traditional engineering graduates. The compensation structure is designed to reward performance and growth, offering potential increases of up to 2.5x within 1-2 years of employment.

TCS Smart Hiring Program

Smart hires are placed in diverse roles across TCS supporting various functions including Engineering, Quality Assurance, Data Analytics, and more. The role requires strong process orientation, effective communication (both written and verbal), collaboration, and advanced analytical thinking. TCS Smart Hiring focuses on building capabilities that bridge academic knowledge with industry demands through in-depth training programs. The curriculum blends technical skills, domain-specific knowledge, and essential soft skills to ensure a well-rounded foundation.

Selection Process

Step 1: Registration and Application

Candidates must sign up on the TCS Next Step Portal at https://nextstep.tcs.com/ and verify details as per Aadhaar. New users should click on “Register Now,” choose category as ‘IT,’ fill details, submit the application form, and click on ‘Apply for Drive’. Existing registered users should login, complete the application form, and click on ‘Apply for Drive’.

Step 2: Test Centre Selection

Candidates must select their mode of test (In-Centre) and choose their preferred test centre. The allotment of seats in respective centres is on a ‘First-Come-First-Serve’ basis, so early registration is important to secure preferred test centres. Test centre once chosen cannot be changed.

Step 3: Written Assessment

Students for both TCS BSc Ignite and Smart will undergo a single integrated test. The assessment duration is 120 minutes and is divided into 4 sections covering Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, Verbal Ability, and Programming Logic. TCS iON is the official test provider for this assessment.

Step 4: Interview Process

Based on test performance, candidates will be shortlisted for Ignite or Smart hiring interviews. The final offer category of test-shortlisted candidates will be subject to performance in the interview process. Only shortlisted students receive communication about the interview schedule on their registered email ID.

Step 4: After receiving your DT Reference ID, login again and click on “Application Form”

Step 6: Upload your photograph (35mm x 35mm, 300 PPI, .jpg/.jpeg format, maximum 1 MB) and CV as per prescribed format

Step 8: Select your preferred test centre (seats allocated on first-come-first-serve basis)
